The largest river in terms of water volume in Amapá, the Araguari, has recorded overflow points since last Monday (22). In a video released by one of the residents affected by the flood in the community of Sapo Seco, in the municipality of Porto Grande, three dogs were rescued from a canoe. The community is one of the countless that are bathed by Araguari. The resident who made the record, José Eduardo da Silva, had his house completely flooded. The Amapá Meteorology Center spoke about the alert identified from stations in some municipalities, which reported on the increase in overflow levels of the Araguari, Amapari, Oiapoque and Jari rivers. The flooding occurs due to isolated heavy rains in the region, about two weeks ago. Porto Grande city hall reported that municipal Civil Defense teams are touring the affected areas and assessing the damage. To date, there is no information on the number of families left homeless or displaced by the floods on the Araguari River.
